Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to sell my Car on MintList?
We charge $95 to prepare your car for sale. Each car is accurately represented to our buyers with a CarFax Verified Report and digital inspection form to ensure you get the most money for your car. This listing fee is non-refundable.
Do I have to sell my car?
You are not obligated to sell your car after the sale ends. You are fully in control at all times.
Who are “the vetted buyers” on MintList?
Our buyers are best in class franchised auto dealers, vehicle exporters, leasing companies with specific end users, and retail brokers who compete against each other for your car.
Will you run a sale on every car that you are offered?
No, we don’t have buyers for some kinds of cars, but we will let you know if your car doesn’t qualify, and why.
What is the process for selling my car?
How much detail do you need about the history, appearance and mechanical condition of my car?
Does the car have to be registered to me or a company I control to sell it?
Can I watch the sale?
Yes you can! We encourage you to watch the sale so you can see exactly how much was bid, and how many buyers fought to win your car.
Do I need to make my car available for viewings?
Will anyone come to my door?
No. No one will come to your door, unless you and the buyer mutually arrange to have your car collected from your home.
Can I bid on my own car?
Can I withdraw my Car before the sale starts?
Yes, you can. Just let us know that you’d like to withdraw your car and we’ll gladly remove it from our platform.
Can I withdraw my car once the sale has started?
No, you can’t. Once the 30 minute sale has started, you must wait for it to end.
How long does the sale take?
We run sales at specified times, once or twice a week, depending on volume. Once a sale starts, it takes 30 minutes to complete.
What happens at the end of the sale?
We will contact you via SMS and email, or you can login to your account and either accept the high bid amount, or decline the offer. It’s up to you!
What if I don't like the high bid amount?
You are under no obligation to accept the highest offer. You can decline the offer without incurring any penalty or additional fees.
Can I trade my car in on another one?
Yes, MintList has 100s of Dealers from which you can trade in your car for a new car. See here for available cars and how to trade in.
How long does it take before I know if my car is sold?
Once you accept the high bid amount, the deal is done. Buyers cannot retract their bid.
Who pays me for my car?
Can the buyer change the winning bid once I go to get my cheque?
In some cases, yes. If your car is found to have undisclosed damage or is in need of repairs that you did not disclose to us, the bid may be revoked or altered at the buyer’s discretion. In these cases, we will arbitrate any claims with you.

What happens if the buyer tries to cancel the deal or doesn’t live up to the agreement?
